Who is Contingent?

Contingent was originally founded in 1984 as a fiber optic infrastructure services company. Since then, Contingent has dramatically increased its capabilities while remaining focused on exceeding customer satisfaction. We have successfully built the business on three core management principles: Speed, Accuracy and Integrity. In July of 2002, Contingent's management team completed a management buy-out of the assets of the operation, formerly the services division of Lastar, Inc. (since 1991) and now operates Contingent Network Services, LLC, once again as a standalone entity. The "spin-off" enabled Contingent to create a capital structure and business strategy designed for growth and expansion in Contingent's key markets. In simplest terms, Contingent designs, deploys and supports the highest quality data and voice communications networks and systems available through a single point of contact. In over twenty years of operation, our focus has never changed.

Project Lifecycle

Our services are part of a three-phase continuum: Design, Deployment and Support. Fully proficient in each of the three phases, we can engage in one, all or any combination on one or more projects simultaneously or in planned sequence for each Client. The natural order of a project starts in the Design phase which is where we prefer to begin an engagement with a Client. However, an overwhelming majority of our new Clients come to us during the Deployment or Support phases and most frequently when they are experiencing a measurable amount of pain with their current practices. Saving the day is something we love doing and our extreme sense of urgency makes us the perfect fit in situations that are critical.

Responsiveness and Flexibility

When a Client or prospective Client considers engaging Contingent on a project of any size, Contingent is focused on exceeding expectations. Too often today, vendors take their customers for granted. That attitude can take many forms but one telltale sign is their apparent lack of responsiveness. If you call Contingent and somebody doesn't answer the phone or the email immediately, we consider that a problem. We are living in an age of enhanced communications systems and so there are no excuses for making our Clients wait for a response. We equip our employees with state of the art tools to communicate at any hour that the Client so desires. Our Clients' business issues vary, many are mission critical and many are 24 hour 7 day operations and so are we. We see ourselves as an actual extension of our Clients' operations and even if you take a break, we never do. Call Contingent when you absolutely, positively must have it done under any conditions with virtually no notice.

Ownership Format and Business Philosophy

Contingent's ownership is comprised of individuals who are active members of the management team and the advisory board. Our ownership team's primary objective for the company is maximizing shareholder wealth. They understand that wealth creation can only come from truly satisfied customers who are compelled to buy based on real sustainable economic value from people they trust. Our owners are patient, trustworthy, passionate, evenhanded and have a very long-term outlook for the business.

Business Mark Symbolism

Ilex Aquifolium – (Holly). The Holly is a tree, which is both a broadleaf and an evergreen and the symbol of its evergreen leaf is what we have selected to represent our organization. Holly is a unique species because its leaves, throughout all seasons, never fall off the tree and never turn brown. This symbolizes Contingent’s dedication to quality and its mission to exceed the Clients’ expectations. There are 400 species of Holly growing in wild tropical and temperate regions across most of the planet. This symbolizes Contingent’s coverage area and ability to effectively manage diverse resources spread across a sprawling geography. The stem and veins of the Holly leaf represent the network and its reach to all end points. The Holly wood is much denser than that of any other native hardwood in North America including oak. This symbolizes Contingent’s ability to achieve “inhuman acts” of quality and performance. Contingent’s careful and organic growth plan is creating the organizational roots and sturdy trunk to succeed under almost any market environment and will always be there for the Client. With its warrior-like bristles, the Holly is a tree of protection. The leaf on the logo also represents the idea that Contingent’s core deliverable is its “human” resources. The concept of the leaf is a metaphor for the simplicity of what Contingent is in its most basic form, people. In a world of technological confusion, Contingent makes it simple for our Clients to focus on core business operations and protects them from technological chaos.
